How to read the results page
Every completed match is listed with the full-time score, the home side first and the away side underneath, alongside the competition it belongs to. Days run from the most recent backwards, so last night's action is always at the top of the page.
Where a fixture was decided beyond ninety minutes, the score shown is the final one after extra time or penalties. Matches still in progress appear on the live scores page until the whistle goes.
What happens after the final whistle
- The result is published here and on the club pages of both sides.
- The league table is recalculated — points, goal difference and position all move on the standings page.
- The fixture list loses the match, so the upcoming games are always forward-looking.
- Form guides on each club page are updated to include the outcome.
Football results — FAQ
How far back do the results go?
This page shows the most recent seven days. Older results stay available on each competition page and on the club pages of the two teams involved.
Do the results include extra time and penalties?
Yes. Cup ties that go beyond ninety minutes are shown with the score at the end of extra time, and penalty shoot-outs are recorded in the match details.
When is a full-time score final?
A score is final once the match status changes to full time. Very occasionally a result is amended afterwards by the competition organiser, and the page is updated when that happens.
Where can I compare the results with the league table?
Open the standings page to see how the latest round of results has changed every position.
