Army Men: Toys in Space

Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffOctober 13, 2013Like the previous Army Men games, Toys in Space puts you in command of a team of toy soldiers. In this installment, you lead six squads of five to six soldiers each against aliens or enemy troops. You have several weapons at your disposal, including bazookas and flamethrowers. But the game suffers from the same problems as its predecessors: unfriendly controls and the awful AI of friendly soldiers. The graphics fall somewhere between the average and the not-so-good for 1999, when the game came out. Nowadays, they just look bad. Despite some good features, including a multiplayer option, the pain of dealing with the clunky interface outweighs all the pleasure. Some die-hard strategy fans may not mind downloading a mediocre 30MB demo to see plastic soldiers battling in space, but we doubt there will be many of them.
